And also...its easy for you to say that in Holland , because you don't see the shit that happens in the US. Metal is pretty much dead here with the exception of the few long haired denim patrols that circulate through the underground preaching the word of thrash metal. Its also hard when you hear the same things coming out of supposed metal heads mouths that you hear on Mtv: I dont like stuff with gritty production, his vocals are melodic enough. Shit like that. That disgusts and saddens me because people have forgotten the true meaning of metal. And if some one doesnt agree with you who gives a shit. I put my opinions out there and then I have to defend them against people like Emokid....who in my opinon has a very jaded opinon of metal, I would say he stresses the emo way too much and should leave that to weezer and other pussy bands.

what is true metal to you in 2005, I mean NEW BANDS !

Yeah I'm not big on new bands....the last new band I liked was Lost Horizon...and they're going to suck now that Daniel Heiman left the band.

but I do like new Underground bands. There is this thrash band from Lansing, Michigan called Sauron that does it totally old school like Sodom and Kreator. That is a killer band that has not forgotten the face of metal...and will kill all who try to blemish it.

The true meaning of heavy metal?

I'm 31 years old, work as a doctor/investigator for a pharmaceutical contract research organisation, have a wife and one kid and happen to like metal.

You would never guess my musical preference judging by the outside, I don't have any friends who like metal and I do not visit concerts anymore.

So tell me, my friend, do I disgust you?

you don't disgust me at all ! but i have a question : "don't you miss concerts ?" :?

As I look back at the concerts I went to and all the assholes that were there, no, I don't miss it.

I think we all can agree that the name calling has gone on long enough. SO I'm willing to put it to rest. I hope we can all find common ground in mutual love of Blind Guardian and every album they've ever released with the small exception of Night at the Opera....which wasnt half bad really...just too ambitious.

Really? As far as power metal goes I think I have the good ones nailed down pretty well. All the Blind Guardian albums, the first two Nocturnal Rites, the first Steel Attack, both Lost Horizon albums, the first two Running Wild, Early Rage, and.....the first three Helloween(Gamma Ray). Other than that I dont think there's any good power metal out there, and I happen to think that Blind GUardian is the best out of all of these bands...at least they were, now all of them are crappy except for Lost Horizon...who is soon to be crappy.

I thought "A Night At The Opera" was perhaps their best (NFOME and IFTOS are also amazing). I like ambitious stuff, and I think they pulled it off flawlessly. There was just... so much to that album. But yeah, all Blind Guardian albums rule, as well as Demons and Wizards.

And it's my opinion that it's not. Do I really need to write "imo" for you to recognize that if it comes out of my mouth, it is indeed my opinion?
