What a fucking retarded comment. Does this explain why metalheads don't cut their hair? They'll lose their strength? Just because primitive hunter-gatherer cliques had to eat meat for the protein doesn't mean I have to or I should enjoy that something dies for me to have a cheeseburger. We're beyond the inhumane treatment of animals. Why should we act as if barbarism is acceptable?

I'm not even a vegan. I just actively seek to find meat which I can learn about how it is raised and butchered. I would love to be a vegetarian in fact but I just lack the palate. God forbid somebody stand up for a political cause and try to change the world by spreading their views and hoping that people lend an ear.

I'm getting the impression that people are arguing over different things--thus I feel compelled to barrel into the thread.

The unethical treatment of animals is egregious, but not on the same plane as that of humans (Jeffrey Dahmer != Michael Vick). I think PETA, and the media, loses sight of this. The Vick hysteria was 100 times louder than any story I've heard about the estimated 27 million people enslaved across the world. http://www.freetheslaves.net/Page.aspx?pid=301

As far as I know, the US meat industry gets away with whatever it wants and is contemptuous of our health by feeding these animals a glut of hormones which get passed on to us.

(Lean) Meat tastes good, and is something I could never do without.

Hey that's fine I don't like it when people say you're an animal murder you should go vegetarian or vegan when myself and my fore fathers have eaten meat since they could chew it. They try to place the guilt trip and that drives me up the wall.

You like veggies(this is for those who are in ear shot not just you trapt)so do I but with a side of chicken, beef, venison, buffalo, turkey, ham and seafood. So stop making me and the rest of us out like we committed jewish genocide.

Meat is murder. That's a fact. Deliberate killing. Cattle Decapitation just emphasizes this notion. Get over it.

I love meat. As a rugby player, animal products are the most important part of my diet: chicken, beef, cheese, milk, whey protein etc. It's very encouraging to see that some restaurants (even ones that are not high class expensive ones) are working towards free range meats with no hormones. There are organic options even in the (somewhat) fast food business. Try Elevation Burger. Not sure if any of you have one, but they're a big chain with 100% organics, and delicious. And yes, I follow the NFL extensively, and in the same area of time where Michael Vick killed a few ravenous Pitbulls, Donte Stallworth hit and killed a man while DUI in Miami Beach. Stallworth got minimal publicity and only about a month in prison. Vick got eviscerated by the eco crazies, who paid for billboards in Philadelphia to insult him on his drive to the practice field, dressed up as dogs and screamed at him, and generally proved their lack of sanity. The bottom line is: if eco-nuts directed their psychosis towards human trafficking, genocide, and murderers, instead of cows and chickens, maybe we'd have a change in the world. Yeah, certain companies (fast food) employ less than admirable conditions in their slaughterhouses, but seriously, it's a cow and a chicken, not a woman and a child.

There's a pretty big difference between the two though. Fighting dogs is cruel/malicious while a DUI is stupid/negligent.

Some animal rights people are nuts, sure, but arguments like this aren't really relevant because
-it doesn't address the issue of whether animal suffering and eating meat is wrong
-it's those people who are creating the awareness that results in restaurants offering free range and hormone free meat
-lots of people (way more, I'd hazard a guess) are working to end human suffering than animal suffering
-the two goals aren't mutually exclusive.

This is such a moronic discussion I don't even have words.

Firstly, there is no way we can even begin to control how animals are raised and butcherd.

Secondly, Vegans and Vegetarians risks various diseases because of their diets, partly due to the lack of totally essential proteins they miss by not eating meat.

Fine, they're making their statements, but I can't for the life of me grasp the fact that humans put animal's health before their own.
