Funny, I didn't think over-production was the legacy of Keepers I and II. It's nearly ruining it for me (ok, it has).

It pisses me off so bad when reviewers suck! Did this guy get one thing correct in this review?

In the world of heavy metal, 1988 may be best remembered as the year that prog metal was born, thanks to such popular and enduring releases as Metallica's ...And Justice for All, Queensrÿche's Operation: Mindcrime, and Iron Maiden's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. But predating all of these aforementioned titles by a year was Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. 1 by Germany's Helloween. Influenced by equally by Maiden and Judas Priest, the group specialized in both anthemic metal (with operatic vocals) and tricky musical bits — as evidenced by the epic track "Halloween," which received quite a few spins on Headbangers Ball as an edited version. Although the group issued a second installment of Keeper of the Seven Keys a year later, they were not able to keep pace with the other prog metallists — despite carving out a lengthy career for themselves (with countless lineup switches). Come 2005, the group — whose only recognizable bandmember is guitarist Michael Weikath — have returned to what put them on the map in the first place, issuing Keeper of the Seven Keys: The Legacy. A sprawling double-disc set, all the musical elements from the earlier Keeper releases are back in place, as evidenced by a pair of lengthy tracks, "The King for a 1,000 Years" and "Occasion Avenue," as well as the leadoff single, "Mrs. God." While it probably won't help touch off another "prog metal movement" like Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. 1 did, longtime Helloween fans won't be let down with the latest Keeper installment.

Prog metal was invented by Metallica. Everybody knows that.

What an idiotic review.

Okay, I just bought this album today and listened to it in its entirety. All I can say is, "Wow!!" This is an incredible album. In fact I can honestly say this is my new favorite Helloween album (which I feel kind of bad about doing because for a while - well, until now that is- Better Than Raw was my favorite). King For 1000 Days (my favorite Helloween song at the moment), Invisible Man, Silent Rain, Do You Know What Your Fighting For?. Ah, fuck it, all the songs on this album are classics!

Easily my favorite February purchase, and I purchased quite a few albums this month too.

I beg to differ. The production on this album is probably some of the best I've ever heard in a metal album and certainly the best of any Helloween album.

All the intros just got to me. Perhaps they fade as time goes on.

I don't know, I've had the CD for a while now and the intros haven't faded. They're still as loud as ever.

Fucking hell it pisses me off when people have retarded complaints about an album. This was, for me, the album of 2005.
Saying "this album was too long" is not a good complaint. JUST IGNORE THE SONGS YOU DON'T FUCKING LIKE THEN. This sort of complaint is like having sex with the girl of your dreams then moaning that you didn't think the oral was very good a the end.
And the other complaint - "intros are annoying"....LIVE WITH IT! It's about 1 minute long at the most. Is your life really that interesting that in that 1 minute you're missing out on the time of your life? I doubt it.
So stop whinging and being emo and just appreciate this album for it's perfection.
I never normally rant like this but sometimes you people piss me off like those on the imdb.

You're not making any sense at all.

If you don't like a bunch of songs on an album, then chances are you wouldn't consider it perfect either, and as such couldn't possibly enjoy an album for it's supposed perfection.

Yes, it's totally emo to have logical complaints and grievances about an album. Everything is totally perfect and the way people talk should reflect this.

(I'm terribly sorry, but this just calls for it:    )

Everyone has a right to their opinion even if it doesn't reflect your own.If it bothers you so much then don't read them.Just pop in the CD and enjoy it.So as long as you enjoy the album what do you care what others think.

Well I'm an emo, cause I don't find this album to be perfect. If it was perfect, I didn't have to ignore the songs I don't like. When I listen perfect albums, I don't ignore anything.

So is perfect for you, is not perfect for me. That are opinions. You can have yours, everyone else in the boards doesn't need to have the same opinion than you.

For the album, my two complains are the name and the filler tracks.
Yeah, I think name is a problem, as is in Operation Mindcrime II. I don't compare records with old discography, except if they forced me to do with names as that.

So is a very good album, and could have been great if some of the filler were left down.

All that in my opinion. Now, you can call me an emo, if you want.
