Good album. Great review. Remember getting this when it came out. You really captured the historical perspective of this album & what was happening in the scene when it was released, the contrast to late 80's Whitesnake, etc. Was surprised to read it actually sold as well as it did.

Nice thanks for the post. I was suprised as well, and even more so that they did not officially tour to support it because they couldnt sell out concerts, though they might have been trying for venues that at that point were just too large.

Its also interesting to note that some people at the time thought Page did this project as kind of an FU to Robert Plant, who he was not on good terms with at the time. Since Coverdale was viewed as a Plant clone anyways, there might be some truth to that.

But regardless, hope more people give it a shot because its a damn good album.

There's a lot of overlooked Page output during this time period. His solo album Outrider has some good stuff on it and he did the soundtrack for the 2nd Deathwish movie.
