I thought this was awful. If I wanted goofy metal I'd just listen to Crotchduster, who are way funnier and have way better music =\

then again I've also never watched an episode of the show because i detest Adult Swim ^_^

Although I also detest Adult Swim I caught a marathon of this on New Years and I enjoyed it. As for the album, its not great but its fun. The exaggeration of lyrics is pretty fun and the songs aren't awful especially the songs with catchy choruses to chant. It's worth a listen but its no masterpiece. In addition to the killing songs mentioned, I'd add Awaken and Fansong.

Funny one song at a time...more than that and it's kind of bleh. But, the show is good...

Am I the only one that thinks Thunderhorse is the best song?

In small doses this album is great! Listening to it from start to finish however isn't. It gets a bit repedative and some songs are filler. I enjoy the parody lyrics, they are silly but at the same time borderline cliché so it's quite funny. And the guitar work on some of the songs are top notch (the drumming too I guess!), I love the solos.

I'm a fan of the show though, so that's probably a huge factor to why I enjoy the music.

I do too.

By the way, it's quite insane how well the album sold in the US. 34,000 copies in the first week, compare that to established metal bands with recent releases like Iced Earth (7,800) and Arch Enemy (8,900).

I usually put Metalocalypse on when I'm having trouble sleeping, it always does the trick.

I personally love most of this album. I haven't listened to an album start-to-finish so much since I first got into metal, and then when I first got into Cryptopsy.

Doesn't do much for me. Despite how much I enjoyed the first season. This season blows my balls off.

well it would if I had any.

I find the songs to be the weakest parts of the show, but whatever. Although I enjoy the show, I feel the could be doing more with it. Maybe take a look at some other genres of metal?

Maybe its me, But I tend to absolutely detest this type of music. Never really liked the gravely type of vocals. not saying I hate all of that type of music, i tend to like vocals I can understand.

On the other hand, I love the show. Its hilarious. as for the album, I love it. Dont know why, its funny and catchy. I really dont think it is meant to be taken seriously, and I think thats why it works for me.

I like to think that Dethklok is more like Spinal Tap for the death metal genre. And like Spinal Tap, if you take them as a serious force in hard rock/metal, you will be disappointed. but as a comedy outfit, they are funny as hell. You really have to take them with a grain of salt.

I will say though, I just saw them play live in Madison WI a couple of days ago for free, they were freaking awesome.

Buh. Really really bland. I know I'm not supposed to take them seriously, but they're still unbearably bland.

My opinion of this album is that it will unfortunately be the only thing resembling true heavy metal that most fans of the show will ever hear. Furthermore, I think some fans will assume this is a great band because of how poor the mainstream music scene is.

for all of you who are bashing this album, get off your high horse and take this album for what it is, an entertaining metal album. Almost everyone on this board will bash anything in metal if more than three people like it.

Really? is that why everyone is praising Threshold lately?

It's the soundtrack to a TV show, It is not an album released by a band. It's a novelty meant to cash in on the popularity of the show. We don't even know if the music is real on this album because pro-tools is so accessable to anyone that wants to make anything sounds the way the want.
