Your review makes it sound a lot better than a 75/100...but it doesn't really matter. Sounds like my kind of thing, I'll be sure to check out some tracks.

Well, 70-79 is listed as "very good" by our scoring standards. As I said in the review, the constant barrage of technical guitar lines gets a little too familiar at times, making it easier to listen to this album in small doses. If I ever say that about an album, you can bet I won't rate it outstanding (80-89) or a masterpiece (90+). I still think it is very good, especially for a first effort, hence the surprise of the month. Keep in mind, 75 is still a high rating for this site. I guess you were expecting me to trash it more, but I usually won't do that to an album unless I'm rating it below 50.

It's just that you said "this album is amazing". I would expect a CD worthy of that to get at least an 80. But whatever, it doesn't matter...checked out some tracks and it's pretty kick-ass. Uber-technical guitars are awesome and I can't really tell that it's a drum machine...vocals are kind of weird, though, especially the spoken stuff.

True, I did say that, but I prefaced it with "in small doses". I was blown away after the first couple songs, but about the 4th or 5th track I really felt like he was repeating himself a little too much. All in all its a very good album that needs more variation to keep it interesting all the way through.

I probably wouldn't have noticed it was a drum machine either, had I not received the press kit  . Glad you like it, if you thought the tracks you heard kicked ass, you will probably like the rest as well.
