This review reminds me that I need to go back and revisit this. I've probably listened to it the least out of all of Nile's first four albums, though I'm not sure why. :wacko:

Black Seeds was actually my first Nile album. And yes, it was quite different from what my 14-year-old self was expecting at the time. I was expecting just a straightforward Death Metal album with an Egyptian theme, but there really is a lot to say for the atmospehere. At times, it does indeed sound like you're trapped in a pitch black tomb.

I haven't listened to this in a long long time. I need to break it out again. :dio:

By 'ithyphallic' death metal, you mean 'virile erection' death metal?

Black Seeds is my favorite Nile album. It seems more technical than the other albums in my opinion. 'Masterbating the War God' and 'Multitude' are so damn awesome. Oh and 'Black Seeds of Vengeance' is a badass song live.
