I bought this about two weeks ago and as the review states, you can take the album in rather quickly which is what I did. I thought it was good but not very impressive. Over the last week something has just been drawing me back to the album repeatedly. My iTunes reports that I have listened to it eleven times which makes a good case that I'm really liking this album. There is a genuine ethnicity to the music that makes it all the more intriguing. I think that the decision to sing everything in Dutch really aids in setting Heidevolk apart from other folk/viking metal bands. The first song 'Een Nieuw Begin' had me wanting to paint my face and beat my chest every time they chant 'Oomp, Oomp, Oomp'. The music conjures images of long lines of warriors marching, banging swords against shields, ready to kick the living hell out anything or anyone who would oppose them. For me, this is what folk/viking metal should sound like. Alex this a great review. You describe the album way better than I ever could. Nice job.

You didn't do too bad yourself. Ever considered joining the writing crew?

I have seriously thought about sending an email to the MR's staff but never took it to the next level.

I would love to. Allow me to finish with school and my exams which will be done on the 27th of the coming month. I will try my best to fit into my schedule a healthy amount of time for reviewing; I will be working from the 27th and on of April. As soon as I found out what my schedule is for working, I will contact either one of you for further assistance. Thanks very much for the support to both of you great gentlemen.

I agree with the review as well as Raven's assessment. It's not an album that strikes you as fantastic on the first listen, but it draws you back in over and over again in a very subtle way. I've been listening to it online since the review came out on Monday and have been digging it more and more every day. I love the way they keep two vocalists, one tenor and one bass and put them together so well. There are so few prominent bass voices in metal (clean singing at least). It definitely adds and extra (deeper, if you will) dimension to the music. I'm definitely going to go get my hands on this and see how many plays it racks up in my itunes!
