I don't think you can call it a split. They predetermined that with the trilogy the story would be complete so the band was dissolved.

I heard some of this on a sampler I got from Vendlus when I bought the new Agalloch EP. Pretty good stuff, and your review re-sparked my interest. I'll have to look into this more.
