The Mars Volta is my girlfriend's favorite band and she has been playing htis nonstop since it came out. She said it was deeper than Amputechture, which is the only Volta album I own.

I want this one......

deeper. harder. faster. longer.

well, not really longer.

but yeah i'm really happy with this album, pretty much every song here kicks ass (with Aberinkula and Cavalletas kicking mildly less ass than the others). also it sounds like he's saying I'VE GOT A PENIS THAT'LL RIP THROUGH THE VERY FABRIC OF TIME on the last song

I didn't really think it was deeper than Amputechture (which happens to be my favorite TMV album) It all sounds a little more light-hearted, a bit weird considering the story behind it.

The penis line is now fairly legendary.

i wouldn't really call Bedlam light-hearted, it's almost tiring to listen to because of how intense it is for almost the whole album. i guess Deeper isn't the greatest word because it's fairly vague... Amputechture has stuff that was influences on earlier albums extended into full songs for "Vicarious Atonement" and "Asilos Magdalena"

Cavalettas is fucking amazing.

"I AM A DEAF CON OF ANGORA GOATS
WARNING YOU ALL WHO PASS THIS NOTE"

For me, the album is somewhat upbeat, then halfway through goes all intense on you. God, this is a fantastic album.

Might be their strongest album. Less pretentious wankery; more catchy-and-creative-as-all-hell melodies.

It's the album they should have written after Deloused--they always had it in them (perhaps they were just a bit less ripped this time around). Definitely a 90+ album.

I'll have to try this, of their previous albums, only Frances The Mute has clicked for me.

Frances The Mute is probably my least favorite by them, although it has the best song they've ever done. Really though, you can't go wrong with anything they've done since they were in At The Drive-In.

As much as I try I cant seem to like this band. I dont deny their talent, but I dont understand what all the buzz is about.

I like the band, especially their bassist, but Cedric just makes my ears scream for mercy. In a bad way.

I honestly think he's trying to annoy people with this album. It's like he's testing people's limits. I love this album, but he's obviously overdoing it.

I actually liked his voice on this album from the beginning. I'm not sure why. It's like he's trying as hard as possible to sound like a woman on this album.

This just arrived for me....

Only listened a couple of times but so far not even close to Amputechture, my favourite of theirs. Probably will be a grower, of course, but there are some bits that sound horribly cheesy to me, like the latter part of Ilyena
