This album is simply wonderful! :dio:

Let us all remember that Driver studied with Yussef Lateef and so I would have liked to see Lateef's autophysiopsychic music's theory mentionned as it clearly is a growing influence in Driver's work...

Also the "jazzy avant-rock" label does not, in my humble opinion, fit Blue Lamency Downward's music. It's much more influenced by contemporary music that it is by jazz...

Except those two point, good review! It's nice to see music that demanding reviewed on a metal webzine!

My rate: 95/100

I've got to admit that I don't know who Yussef Lateef is...

To be honest, I was clutching at straws for a genre description, as I didn't want to do a cop-out and put "Kayo Dot music".

Glad you liked it, I'm gonna try and do archives of more of Driver's work.

I don't get it either, this album is extremely unremarkable compared to the previous two.

Wow! I didn't even know that Kayo Dot had released a new one. I loved Choirs.. and Dowsing Anemone... and Maudlin's bath. I'll check this one out as soon as possible.

This band looks really interesting, especially the two records before this one...from what I understand, post-metal or something like it? I'll have to get Choirs of the Eye.

Eehhhhh... it combines post-rock and metal, but it doesn't really sound like what we'd call post-metal. It's very hard to describe.

It's more contemporary classical meets post-rock imo...
