Good to see these guys getting good reviews. They get bashed way too often for their vegan convictions. I got into these guys with Humanure and they're getting more and more interesting. They started out as a CC clone and finally start getting their own sound. A great death metal start for 2009, definitely. :dio:

My favorite tracks are Ripe Beneath the Rind and the s/t + Regret in the Grave. The combo of the last two tracks is probably the best thing they've ever done. Actually, this album is the best thing they've ever done. Yeah, the s/t track could've been better but it such an awesome intro to the last track.

What really makes this album better than their others is the random progression and awesome riffs. They could always use more but it is done so well here as compared to their last album. The riffs are so damn catchy for grind.

Plus, it doesn't have random pig squeals for nine minutes or any other throwaway shit like that, ie: it is nine minutes of awesome brutality.

My favourite of 2009 so far. I love everything about this, Travis' vocals being a highlight, and some of the crushingly heavy and slightly groovy riffs that suddenly hit in the songs are awesome.

Standout tracks for me are The Gardeners Of Eden,The Ripe Beneath The Rind, In Axestacy and Regret & The Grave.

I still think this album is only slightly weaker than Monolith. I remember holding out for a while at least two months or so after this album came out, and when I first heard it before going to school I was blown away by the sheer scale of the sound. Travis' vocals match the insanity from seeing them live, combine that with the speed of songs like The Gardeners of Eden and The Ripe beneath the rind and it was a good starting point to get them into the more progressive moments on Monolith.

This is easily the standout album of their careers. Monolith's greatest moments are built on the Jarboe title track and Regret & the Grave. The technicality and speed really shines on this album. They basically took everything on past albums and turned it up to 11. Monolith only exceeds it by maintaining the quality and adding melody in those weird, visceral Travis Ryan moments.
