Well, I'm a huge Moonspell fan, and though there are some serious black metal elements, it's not total black metal, which makes it easier for me to review.

I do like some black metal, just not a lot. I may do a Keep Of Kalessin review, too! :)

I liked the antidote better.

The Antidote is great, but this album is just so heavy, it's awesome, flawless.

I was also less impressed with this than Antidote. Reminded me of Butterfly Effect, my least favorite by them. Wolfheart and Irreligious are still unsurpassed. Glad someone liked this to review in my stead.
70 / 100.

i liked the antidote, and i'm looking forward to hearing this one.

it'd be nice it Moonspell did more songs like Alma Mater, it's one of my all-time favourites. epic, heavy, melodic... it's got everything.

Really? I found this to be nothing like The Butterfly Effect. Yes, that's a heavy album, but a very different kind of heavy, in my opinion. I think my least favorite album would be Sin/Pecado, though I still love that album.

Has anyone heard the Daemonarch album?

Once again a rather well known band which I've completely ignored. I'll try getting this one in a near future.

Cool, because their new one, (Armada isnt it?) is on my 'to buy' list!

I dislike this album. There are some interesting parts, especially some of the verses and build-ups, but the choruses are so disapointing. They're simply bland and uninspired. No more killer choruses like the ones in Wolfshade, Of Ruin And Misery, Handmadegod or Capricorn At Her Feet. That melodic brilliance is gone and all that's left is some random agression without any purpose. Finisterra and Sanguine are exceptions (and the instrumentals are nice), but they don't save the album.

That's my take on Memorial. And yes, I've heard Daemonarch's Hermeticum. It's a much better album.

I can't understand anyone saying the choruses are weak. That's strange, especially when they say "Finisterra" is an exception when that song has a one-line chorus. Oh well, I can't save 'em all.

In my mind this is my second favorite Moonspell album so far, right behind wolfhart. It is so dark even the cover art is awesome. Proliferation is an amazing song, should have been an intro or something

Yes. It's a killer album! But I like to make reviews somewhat personal, show the reader that I'm actually intertwined somehow with the band or the genre, I think it lends credibility to the review. The problem with true black metal is that I have no credibility in that scene. Hehehe. I like very little of it and have no background in it to draw inspiration, you know?

I'd like to see it reviewed, though.

I love this album, not only because I'm portuguese, but also because it brings back the force of Moonspell that was forgotten long ago. I like all their albums including Buterffly, and they know well how to blend melodic and harsh sound.

They re-invent themselves every album, and I love that peticular quality on bands.

They have entered Nº1 on the Top here in Portugal, dethrowning the new Melanie C album, what a complish my friends...

1º - «Memorial» - Moonspell
2º - «Beautiful Intentions» - Melanie C. (dethrowned of nº1 by Moonspell)
3º - «Un Monde Parfait» – Ilona
4º - «Paulo Gonzo» - Paulo Gonzo
5º - «Breakaway» - Kelly Clarkson
6º - «Ao Vivo no Coliseu» - Tony Carreira
7º - «Ancora» - Il Divo
8º - «Vida» - Paulo de Carvalho
9º - «X & Y» – Coldplay
10º - «Collected» - Massive Attack

I love the Armada album, honestly, I give it 99/100. I've seen them live here in Portugal last Saturday in Steel Warriors Rebellion Metal Fest in Barroselas (I pass the advertising ;) check this festival!), among with Carpathian Forest, Hate, Filii Nigrantium Infernalium, Bolt Thrower, God Dethroned, Gut, Loits, and other great bands, and they fu**in ruled! Great show and fantastic people. I bought a t-shirt and the album with a discount, and all of the elements from the band signed my album! They are just great!

Who gives a fuck, just review it! Say its credible because you are an outsider, and have a fresh perspective over those who are really into bm or some shit.

And that quite cool that moonspell beat a former spice girl in the charts!
