A band that exists in the wrong era, I think. For some reason, they don't get the attention they deserve, not even close, though they would probably have been huge in the 80s. Sad.

I mean, I didn't even know they had a new album until I saw it in the store. Did it get any promotion at all, anywhere?

Great album, though. Wish they had more success, though.

I cannot believe only one person commented to this review... This is classy old school Heavy Metal the way it should be done!
I've seen a lot of people praise the NWOBHM, this band's for you, people! Give it a try, for god sake!

This forum is a place where trendsters hang out under the guise of being real music fans.

If Mike Patton farts in a bottle and records it rolling down a hill, it's declared genius...because, for whatever reason, Patton is somehow regarded as being a great songwriter, which he's not.

But a band like Icarus Witch, fantastic in all respects, get very little love because they're not on the Hot Topic Trend-o-Meter. Or because people couldn't find a quick and easy download that they could skim for 30 seconds and post an opinion on.

That's sad but, seeing what's get reviewed an heavily commented on each week (either to diss it or praise it), I think you're right... A great album like this Icarus Witch gets no attention even from those who claim they love the "true" heavy metal sound.

Well, not everyone makes that claim.

That not everybody wants to fawn over the same stuff played over and over again? Seems like a good point to me.

What is sad is that people still tut tut about the youth of today for not being into stuff that's basically a retread of something nearly 30 years old. Why should they?

I'm not sure that's what he meant.. I'd agree that people who love their old-school heavy metal music, should check this out. But for some reason, they don't. That's a little sad. But hey, their loss.

FYI, my post was aimed at those who like old school heavy metal. Therefore your and EBD's comments were unnecessary to say the least.

Fair enough... sorry about that, I must have subconsciously associated you with Satan's Anus and caught you in the blast radius.

No problem.
And actually, I think I enjoy that Mondo Cane album more than most other people on MR to the point that it's probably going to be in my 2010's top 10 list...

Is it good? Is it fucking great? That's why! The "youth of today" get caught up in all the wrong--and utterly pointless--shit. You won't "tut tut" about it because it's a retread. Why should that even matter?

Your favorite band is a retread. That's just how it goes.

My favourite band is Cynic. This "everything is just a retread of everything else" line you have is transparent bollocks that doesn't really need a response.

You're always talking nonsense. I realised a long time ago that you don't value originality as something of inherent value but a lot of people do. Honestly, if some retro 80s-worship band was getting way more replies and interest on the site than a band that is trying to do something new and inventive- THAT would make me sad.

You know, in some way this is like a soap which repeats itself over and over again. It's quite amusing to be honest.

Yeah, I know. And I completely agree with you on this issue. It's just that almost every month someone has this exact arguement with him and he just doesn't seem to get it. That's what I find so amusing about all this.

I agree this is decent, (very good musically, and very melodic, yes, but could use a bit more heaviness, IMO) and even better than Wolf, but why anyone would give a rats ass what anybody else listens to or doesn't is beyond me.
