I think this album is good. Not great not bad. It has some great songs (wherever, enter sandman, of wolf) and some ok ones (unforgiven, holier, the struggle)

It is the harbinger of the shitstorm that was to come, sadly.

Pretty much sums up exactly how I feel. This album is neither the sweeping classic nor the pile of shit that most people consider it to be. Radio has burned out Enter Sandman over the years, but I still love Wherever I May Roam and Sad But True.

I like Load and ReLoad better, personally. But this is still a pretty decent album (although probably the weakest pre-St. Anger Metallica album IMO). I actually can't stand the original Unforgiven (yes, I like Unforgiven 2 better :lame: ). But Enter Sandman, Sad But True, Wherever I May Roam, Of Wolf And Man (how could you not like this song? It's one of my favorites off this album!), The God That Failed (my personal favorite), and even The Struggle Within are all classics. Nothing Else Matters is also a great song.

I remember going to Woolworths in my local town the day this album came out, buying it on cassette, rushing home and falling in love with it instantly!

I played this album so many times, I actually had to buy another copy because my original imploded!

However, despite my love, I remember listening to 'Nothing Else Matters' for the first time and hating that song with a passion! I mean, a Metallica ballad was meant to be like 'Sanitarium or Unforgiven, not this acoustic twaddle!! I even hated the guitar solo on that song; in fact, it's the only Metallica solo I dislike!

It scores 90 for me because I still hate that one particular song, but everything else on this album just oozes quality.

IMO their best album, since thrash was never one of my favorite genre.Metallica doing heavy metal with some bluegrass influences was the best music they produced and I really wish they would go back to that balance instead of trying to go back to thrash and impress their old fans.

I haver never really like this album. It's not that i think the songs are really crappy but i don't like them all that much either. I know that many ppl think this album only contains pure gold, but I think the songs are annoying, too "light" and too.. uhm.. rockish poppish.. I dunno

My first ever heard Metal track was "The Struggle Within" which was the main music for a wrestling show here in germany. And after I saw Enter Sandman on MTV, my favourite music taste went from Hard Rock to Heavy Metal. :)

It's not the best Metallica album, but still very good.
