Crims, you should get the remaster of this. The expanded edition has a crapload of live tracks from their prime! They sound amazing!

I'm curious to know what you would rate this, Jeff? That goes for you too Marty :)

I'd give it in the high 80's as well....this one and "The Warning" are my favorites......Queen of the Reich rules! 8)

The Warning is such a good disc.. and the remaster sounds so timeless.. in fact I am going to listen to this right now.

Agreed, for me the first Queensryche EP and The Warning were a MONUMENTAL part of my early metal growth. I still listen to both quite regularly, especially the EP. All four songs just plain KICK ASS!

I got the EP before The Warning ever came out. The EP was featured in a section in Hit Parader magazine that rated upcoming bands still in the EP/demo stage. I ordered the EP based on their recommendation, and I wasn't disappointed! I remember waiting for The Warning to come out the following year. The release date kept getting pushed back and every Tuesday I was down at the local record store waiting for their weekly shipment. This went on for about six weeks. It got to the point where the store owner would just let me open the boxes myself, to see if the new Queensryche was included. Finally, one Tuesday, there it was! And I was in metal heaven for months after that!

The same happened to me with Cradle of Filth's Damnation and a Day; I went to the store every Wednesday to check their arrivals, becasue the import albums here in Mexico arrive like one or two months after the album is released; so I went weekly for about two months; the difference is that it was a total let down for me; I thought the stupid Cradle album sucked... It's horrible when stuff like that happens.

I'd give it a high 80's score. I bought it as soon as I saw the cheesy video foe Queen Of The Reich back in '82 or '83. The Warning I would rate in the low 90's with Rage For Order being a bit lower....Operation Mindcrime well......100 or course (see my review). The first QR E.P. was a great new release by a solid new band and the Maiden and Priest influences were there but so was a more darker, atmospheric yet melodic style. The lead guitar solo on Queen Of The Reich was something very technical and not something you'd normally hear from a new band. I remember reading that they released the E.P. almost in the same state as the original demo that was sent to the label.....the quality was that good.

this EP is an absolute must have, essential for anyone who likes Queensryche, power metal or traditional heavy metal/NWOBHM

sure as hell doesn't fit the progressive metal format of their later releases, and those vocals annihilate most of the power metal vocals out there, superior to Blind Guardian, Helloween and Iced Earth (then again being a better vocalist then Matt Barlow really isn't difficult if you have any significant talent)

I asked you if you really thought it to be power metal related and you answered.... well, what you answered, which was just weird and missing the point totally. So I ask you again, where the hell did you hear anything powermetally on those songs?

I hear power metal in the vocals, the person who reviewed this also hears power metal on this release if you read the review, as I said it's a must have for fans of numerous genres in my opinion, the EP seems much less prog then most of what Queensryche have released but perhaps I'm mishearing this release

or perhaps the power metal bands I listen to are more prog then power which is another possible explanation for my hearing power metal in the EP

That's what I meant .. listen to some live footage of all three vocalists .. certainly none of them are perfect. I would put Kiske and Tate roughly equal, and Hansi awesome at what he does (certainly Tate couldn't sing like that) but perhaps to distinctive to compare.
