The skill on display is pretty impressive at times but I just can't get past the fluffy Dragonforce influence that is pretty much a constant throughout the album. I'm not really a huge fan of that band so this isn't my cup of tea.

For anyone interested this band is basically a blend of gothenburg melodeath and dragonforce that gets quite technical at times. Anyways nice review but as I stated its just not aimed at my tastes.

I listened to it last night and well, I admit I liked it quite a bit, even though I don't like Dragonforce. It does get into some noodling bits at times but I like the catchiness it gives, personally.

For some reason, this album reminds me of a French band called Carcariass. They play a more techy kind of death but they do insert this sort of noodling in some parts that has a videogame-like feel to it and makes it more melodic rather than chaotic like so many tech death bands. Those who like this and don't know Carcariass should check out their 2002 release, Killing Process. Great stuff!

The solos to me sound a little old school. Some maiden in there. Alot of that melody doesn't sound Melodeath. Is this Melodeath or just some really good technical sounding metalcore with really cool guitar solos? I'm not feeling them as a true melodeath band. The vocals sound a bit core. Not too much. This band is pretty good.

The real letdown here are the vocals..they dont seem to suit the music in most of the songs. The guitar solos are very impressive. I would probably score the album between 75 and 80.

I hear nothing Dragonforcy about these guys, except maybe the fact that they have a really strong sense of melody. I hear some amazing melo death and a nice techy touch. I think I need to purchase this one. I'm really liking this.

Well, I personally didn't hear so much Dragonforce, if only for the occasional noodly-ish ( ) solos and leads (i.e. series of extremely fast notes) that give it a slight hint of videogame-ish sound. I guess I've been listening to way too much Powerglove lately. :P

Wow... did that even make sense? I need sleep, haha...

But yeah, I plan to get this too. The vox is an acquired taste but musically, it's awesome.

Well thats actually what i was talking about except that maybe it stuck out more for me than you. listen to it again, there are actually quite a few leads and especially solos that sound like they could have come directly from Inhuman Rampage. In all reality I'm not so sure that it gives me that vide so much because of the actual song writing but maybe more so because of the production. The solos and the melodic leads have a very power metal (not all of them of course) feel to it and more specifically it sounds alot like dragonforce lol.

I'm not really ripping on the band its a really impressive cd but i prefer my melodeath more in the vain of at the gates or insomnium.

I totally hear you on this one; although I like this lots and I have some stuff of this kind, if you look at my melodic death section of CDs, you'll find more stuff like At the Gates, Arise, Within Y, Mors Principium Est, Callenish Circle, Omnium Gatherum and so on... rather than the likes of Raintime, Skyfire or other power-metallish bands.

Not knocking anyone, though. (Skyfire's) Esoteric is probably one of my most anticipated releases of 2009.

I wouldn't even call this deathmetal. It's mainly the vocals that are death the rest is more like powermetal. I feel it was bad put together, technical but with lacking songwriting.

I would give it a 44 one of the worst albums I've listened to this year.
