I finally listened to this and, although I would give it about 50 myself, I agree with what you said. The album just comes short. It blends in and ends up all sounding the same and being uninteresting.

I felt I needed to speak up about Setherial, though. You really picked their worst to listen to. Death Triumphant is just boring... well, boring to death.

Honestly, most of their albums are rather generic and uninteresting. That said... their debut, Nord, is one of my favorite black metal albums. Nord just oozes with grimness and frost. It truly deserves to be listened to and to me, is ranked high up along the likes of early Immortal, early Dissection and Burzum's Hvis Lyset Tar Oss (sp?). The acoustics and long-ish songs just give it even more atmosphere. Funny tidbit, it's (Peter) Tatgtren that mixed the album and it sounds completely different from what you'd expect from the guy.

I finally have someone who actually reads my reviews to pay attention enough to the little things I say. Hooray! On a serious note, I haven't heard Nord, so no comment, but Endtime Divine is just as bad as Death Triumphant, so I could pick that one too.

Yeah, Endtime is about as bad as Death Triumphant... so are the rest of their albums, really. All of them are rather boring, with the exception of Nord. If you have the occasion sometime, lend an ear. It might surprise you.
