91? Come on, this is a good album but not 91 good. I'd say somewhere in the low to mid 80's is more appropriate.

maybe... Remember that I'm not that much into this new retro-thrash wave that you are.. I won't deny that I've maybe over-quoted it a bit.,

I disagree, perfect score, great review.

I really love the shit out of this album. The midpace crunch of "we who are about die" with the shouted lyrics rocks my world everytime, (BLOOD! ON THE SAND! WHERE THE GLADIATORS STAND!) not to mention the blistering fast solo mid-section of the track.

And the rest of the album is just full of highlights too.

I agree with this score. And having received hexen's album in the mail about a week and a half ago, I'd say that album deserved a higher score than 79. Zad's review was good, but i'd give that album 85 or higher.

I think it's definitely a highlight and much better than most of the current albums of established old thrash bands. There are no experiments with mid tempo crap, just speed, thrash and metal with great hooklines. Especially "Burned alive" "Killer from the Deep" and "Armoured assault " are my personal favourites.

BUT one little critique point is the production, because despite Flemming Rasmussen, it doesn't sound as good like Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets. Warbringers War Without End comes closer to the old 80s thrash sound.

I didn't realize Rasmussen was involved in this. Awesome album. It is easily my favorite retro-thrash album.

I'd like Megadeth or Metallica to start touring with these guys rather than bands like Trivium, Machine Head or the Sword.

I don't know but I just don't get why these guys are so awesome. Sure the pure speed of them is awesome, but I really can't stand the singer. Sounds too much like the guy from Sum 41. I can't honestly pick a newer thrash album I like better than this, but I also can't pick one I dislike more than this.

If I were to pick something to listen to right now that's considered new thrash, i'd go with the Dekapitator album. Not Evile.

Hm, I think in thrash metal, the singer is not that important. Main thing is that he sings aggressive.

But Evile are IMO so awesome, because it sounds as if Metallica are interpreting Slayer songs. Enter the grave sounds like an evil bastard son of Ride the Lightning and Hell Awaits. And this mixture is not that bad.

Bah. That's German thrash for you! I like my thrash with good or distinct vocals ie. Agent Steel, Heathen, Annihilator, Realm, Toxik, Forbidden, etc.

Interesting that u rated Evile so highly, especially in contrast to Imagika. I mean, a while ago I checked out "all" the new thrash bands out there (about 10 or so) along with the overlooked Onslaught - original thrashers from 80's. And the only 2 that were reasonably good and interesting to me were Evile and Onslaught; they actually even sound alike! U might wanna check them out. But still, both aren't on par with anything truly good from 80's (from what I've heard). Imagika ain't really one of the new wave of thrash, but they still kick 99% of the competition! :dio: Coz if u are looking for good vocals AND good riffs (like me), then the choices are few in the current state of thrash.

I don't know but, when the vocals are too good, then it sound's more like US Power Metal than Thrash.

And the biggest of the thrash bands from the 80s had nearly all rather mediocre singer like: Tom Araya, James Hetfield, Dave Mustaine, Mille, Tom Angelripper, Schmier and so on. But they were all individual, charismatic and very aggressive. And the same goes IMO for Evile or also Warbringer.
