Great album, inspired but some tragic events.

Good to have a concept album of this type...a way of letting go of those people he held dear, in some way.

However, this band hasn't changed their style since the very beginning and now it's just sounding stale. I believe their ship is sunk. There are really no more than 2 decent tracks here, the rest just make up the numbers. I got bored of this by halfway.

Nice review, but I think that knowing of this band just around a month ago and the thrill of hearing something new may have had a bias towards the review. There is no way that this album deserves a 92, but you are indeed entitled to your opinion. I would have it no higher than 65-70

I used to absolutely love this band. I still spin Dead or Dreaming and Buried into Oblivion very often... but with the change of vocalists, it just completely turned me off. The wailing on the previous album made me cringe and this one the same... just the beginning of Tides of Blood is enough to make me want to break things. It's too bad, because I find the concept pretty cool (even though it's tragic).

I guess I'm in the minority that doesn't like this kind of vocal (the Ripper-style of wailing, that is).

I was at the same show as the reviewer, and this is the 4th or 5th time I have seen Into Eternity open a show in the last year+ and, I'm sorry, these guys just don't have "it." Starts with their vocalist. After seeing him at so many shows my friends and I have nicknamed him the "spin- the-wheel-of-vocals-guy" because of how he randomly goes from annoyingly high whine, to growl, to rasp and it always comes off as abrupt & disjointed. And while it may seem admirable that he attempts it, he's not great at any of them . . . you know that old saying, jack of all trades, etc. I also don't see how it really serves the songs? And his attempts to pump up the crowd, etc. just seem forced & lackluster. As relentlessly as these guys apparently tour, they don't seem to improve or sound any tighter?

I have checked out some of their music online, and in studio I will say they are more impressive---though I still find the merry-go-round vocals to be the weak link---but it just does not translate live. At the Worcester show I had never heard of warm-up band Saviours . . . they were nothing spectacular, but enjoyable throwback, groove metal (liked it enough to buy their CD at the show) . . . Iced Earth was earth-shatteringly great . . . Into Eternity . . . you can tell they are individually very accomplished on their instruments, but live they honestly sound like 5 guys all playing a different song. Not to mention, the fill-in guitarist playing with them could not have been more disinterested and his solos were tuneless, high-speed diddling.

I know these guys are critical darlings, but I just don't get it. Think perhaps they try too hard to blend too many different styles at the expense of songs that really hang together. Such a mish-mosh may work OK in the crystal clear confines of studio/CD, but live it's a confusing mess.
