it's kind of lame that they're only playing 2 songs from Watershed this tour. even though they've got a big back catalogue i'd want to hear the whole thing since it's the album they're touring for :\

still... /jealousy

I actually found the setlist disappointingly conservative. Obviously we needed stuff from Watershed, but one of the best things about Opeth's live set always was that they threw in a load of surprises. On the GR tour they even chucked in something from Orchid. Nothing from Morningrise, which is a damned shame... but then I suppose I may be one of those people that, in Mike's words, goes along especially to hear the "old shit".

Godhead's Lament wasn't a surprise, though... if I remember correctly they've played it every time I've seen them. Also, it is one of their very best songs, maybe even their actual best. AFAIK they never made a habit of doing Face of Melinda, unfortunately.

The Ocean were fine, but not even approaching the same league as Opeth or Cynic, I hate to say it. The nice constructive side of me says its good to have a young British band on the bill getting exposure, but then the other half says "fuck off, give Cynic an extra half hour". Because, yeah, they are a really magnificent band with a flawless live show, and really, really deserved longer.

EDIT: I really can't understand why everyone loves the Drapery Falls so much...... cut it out and shove Advent in, says I!

i'm biased towards Watershed because it's the only Opeth album i've listened to more than twice in the last year

also The Ocean are from Germany, unless there's a different band called that.

Seeing them, well, exactly a month ago in Ohio, I feel like their set was so amazing and it is just too bad that they spend so much time setting up instead of playing. At my show, it took Opeth 45 minutes to set up but they played for nearly two hours so it made up for it.

I always have a hard time imagining Akerfeldt growling. He's seem so nice and polite.

Wha????

Hm, they sounded British in their stage banter... maybe they have just mastered the accent.

In that case, kudos to you, The Ocean, but I still wish you had been kicked off to make more room for Cynic.

There are two, one a big Sludge Doom beast, the other technical metalcore or whatever you want to call it. Both are pretty good, but don't think either are Ingrish.

When they played with Neurosis in Italy only 3 of them showed up.
They weren't very good live. Def much better on record...
