I'm liking this album a lot! My rate would be around 90. I'm really really glad they went back to their roots with this album. Charles, if you liked this, you should also check Memoria Vetusta I: Father of the Icy Age. Those who are into Drudkh and Negura Bunget need to listen to this asap! :dio:

I'll be the first to admit that I hadn't heard Blut Aus Nord's stuff before TWTTG. I couldn't get into the past two albums but now I really have to get Memoria Vetusta I! Great stuff. Raw but still very listenable and melodic.

I love the thrashy riffing and Bathory-esque chorus on songs like Slaughterday (The Heathen Blood of Ours) or Fathers of the Icy Age. :dio:

Cheers, AlexandeR.

I prefer this one to Memoria Vetsuta I, actually. Mainly because it sounds better, more powerful.

I've always prefered their style on TWTTG to their older stuff, but I still might give this a listen sometime.

Depends... a lot of people think TWWTG is a classic, but I don't know whether you're into that ambient type of BM or not. Personally I would put this one on a lot more often.

nothing is really better than TWWTG. That album is something else, something even the band themselves couldn't match later on.

I always lol when I hear people say BAN is stagnant. Yes, they tried to capitalize on the success of The Work, and they couldn't. It's just that we shouldn't forget that this band has released very varied and original albums that venture into different genres before The Work, and now after it. Amazing band, this album is great. I'd give it a 90.

So you think that MoRT and Odinist are worth a listen?

I don't know if you're gonna like them, but the scores they got here are ridiculously low.

True. They're not that bad but they are pretty much the same album except worse. They would have gotten much higher ratings if itthey weren't released after twwtg.

they can't always release such stellar releases such as Memoria Vestusa or The work which transforms god. They are human beings like you and I and if they released 'masterpieces' or attempted to just to please the critics they would cease to be artists. I listened to MORT and though it lacked the same power as the aforementioned albums it still maintained the dismal atmosphere that all of their albums have

Am I the only one who really enjoyed Mort? I don't see it as a worse version of TWWTG at all, but rather as a more extreme continuation of that style. Not something I'd listen to every other day, but pretty good album otherwise.

I didn't care much for Odinist though.

On the other hand, the new one is very cool. I never listened to MV pt I, should I?

This is my first exposure to Blut Aus Nord music and I’m absolutely dazzled, for Memoria Vetusta II is one of the most rewarding and remarkable experiences I've had lately.

I heard part 1 yesterday, it blew me away, really original black metal. And the art work is sick.
