Have to agree with you on this, definitely. That's why I shifted away from power to prog and more extreme genres... since a few years, the power metal bands just aren't as much quality as in the 90s/early 2K's...
I think the heavy classical influence on Theatre of Fate (and Viper in general) is part of what makes it so awesome. Classical music can be the best or worst genre... it can be a string of notes (Vitalij Kuprij comes to mind) or it can enrich a band's sound to make it from good to great (Therion, Haggard and others).
