The overall feeling is probably best described as sounding like the backdrop of post-apocalyptic scenes, as there is an empty and lost vibe to the melodies. Perhaps its just the fact that this album coincides with my playing of Fallout 3, but...

Seriously, this seems to be a great album!
How you described the feeling of drifting off to sleep with a ambient, progressive album, it just made me think of Green Carnation's Light of Day, Day of Darkness.
And, funny thing, you say it's a single 42 min track.
