In my opinion, Brocas Helm are one of the worst "cult" heavy metal bands. Their music is awesomely messy and chaotic, but Bobbie Wright is one of the worst metal vocalists I've ever heard. He sounds more like a punk vocalist to me. A bad punk vocalist.

Great fucking album. Dirty power metal. Black Death is also incredible. Love this band.

Because it's one of the best cult metal bands, of course.

The production is really bad though. I am afraid i would have enjoyed the album more if it was better.
I find Defender Of The Crown to be far superior.

Excellent review Thomas, i love this band and i dont see whats the big deal with the production, for anyone who has some experience with old school heavy metal (Cirith Ungol, Savage, Manilla Road) the production of this album should be no problem at all, i love all of their albums but i think this is my favourite the tittle track just fucking kills.

Now playing: Brocas Helm - Ravenwreck

I actually think the production gives it half its charm. I can't imagine that it would sound as good with better production. Look at what good production is doing to current bands...that whole Andy Sneap produced sound is killing any of the feeling in music. Back when everything was analog the songs would carry a certain charm that they now are for sure lacking.

Listen to irae Melanox by Adramelch if you want an example of bad production that is perfect for the music.

Besides production is not as important as song writing. If a song is really awesome than it wont really matter what the production sounds like, as long as you can hear what's being played.

A valid opinion, others would cite him as one of the best for the same reasons.

Yup... The production makes this waht it is, and I love it. I'm not liking Black Death as much though, even though it's also great.
