I agree with the score but maybe a 70/100 would be the real score....The catchy choruses are def there....Its a decent album nothing special...but overall I'm not a big fan of elvenking anyway.

Ive been a fan of Elvenking for quite a while now and to be honest im quite disappointed with their latest release. As the reviewer clearly stated that what made them truly unique is almost lost. I have no idea why they choose to make this switch in their music since their last album was a sure hit. I just hope they realise their mistake for future releases. Id give this around 70-75.

Quite a huge step in the wrong direction indeed but it has some fierce competition for the Disappointment of the year award...still, the song "The Divided Heart" is dumbed down to a level where it pisses me off and "Romance & Wrath" is a strong contender for Worst metal song of the year. What a goddamn mess! :wacko:

It has it's good parts, as does every song... but the bad overpowers the good.

I finally got it and have listened to it about 8 times.

*sigh*

I want to like it. Really do. But, it truly isn't that good. I don't think it's complete crap. But....I'd say the score here is about on target. I DO hear some decent melodies, and bits of nearly every song have something...but it's like...they all need to be pulled apart and reworked.

Agree, Romance and Wrath is painful.

Also, the spoken passages are absolutely horrible. I don't mind narration - if it works. But that guy's nerdy American voice is incredibly weak and annoying. I've actually adjusted my start and stop songs in itunes to cut out the spoken stuff as much as possible on playback.

Anyway, hope these guys bounce back next cd. Winter Wake kicked such ass.

Great cover and production(wish the new Gamma Ray sounded this good overall ) but not up with their last overall it's just an ok cd.

I like the title track the most. I just wish every song but like 1 or 2 didnt have that talking. The album was already a letdown with some ok tunes here and there but the talking shit really fucks things up. Its embarrassing, I really cant listen to it without cringing and then turning it off.

I cant believe a band I respected and enjoyed so much released this turd of an album.

Yeah, I agree with the talking too. They're trying to be grim and dark and they just sound stupid.

A Riddle of Stars is the only good song I think. The instrumental would be ok if the faggy Myspace poetry wasn't extended the full way through.

I really can't stress how much I hate the money-grubbing shitfest.

I still think there is hope for Elvenking. There are still signs of Heathenreel here and there, but for the most part this is In Flames all over again.

By the way, how does a band with the name Elvenking think they can get away with this? I mean you're fucking name is Elvenking, why they hell do you think you can play this kind of music? Come on! That's like Fairyland trying to play death metal.

For the record I love the name Elvenking for a band and dislike the name Fairyland.

What's with all the COB similarities Elvenking and even the latest Nocturnal Rites put it on thought it was COB's music I was listening to at first. Lets just drop all the things that made us great and be trendy. I like COB but only want to listen to the original act doing their stuff.
