Thanks for the review, Zad. Question regarding the departure of Morfeus and its specific impact on the sound--are the synth soundscapes less developed? Or is their little lead guitar? Morfeus' departure also meant the loss of his unique and interesting space-themed cover art.

I guess an overlong 77/100 type album is about as much as I could have expected. 12 tracks is way too many for an LA album, but at least that guarantees their will be choice cuts along with filler.

While we are discussing one of my very favorite bands, let me give my ranking of their output:

1. Moon in the Scorpio
2. Ad Noctum-Dynasty of Death
3. In Abhorrence Dementia
4. Epitome of Illusions
5. Legacy of Evil
6. The Ultimate Death Worship

Yes and yes to your first questions, but only up to a point - there is still plenty of synth, of course. By focusing on his departure, I meant more that two make more diverse music than one, and there just seems to be a lack of ideas overall. It's a Limbonic Art album, really.

Ok, thanks. Still a L.A. album, just not a particularly inspired one.

As ever, when faced with a Limbonic Art album you have to downplay expectations in order to fully enjoy what you actually have
:omfg: That sounds so negative.

I'm pretty psyched about this.

My ranking:
1. In Abhorrence Dementia, the strongest synth action and just such an epic atmosphere.
2. Moon in the Scorpio
3. Ad Noctum - Dynasty of Death
4. The Ultimate Death Worship
5. Legacy of Evil

I struggled in placing Dementia below Ad Noctum, I think there is a big quality gap between those two and Moon as compared to everything else they have done. Ultimately I had to take Moon as my favorite of their atmospheric style and Ad Noctum as my favorite of their heavier style.

I would try to track down Epitome of Illusions, though. It was basically a recording of their demo, and sounds like slightly spacier version (though not quite as good) of Emperor's first two full-lengths.

IAD might just be nostalgia for me but it still hits me more than Moon does. I feel like I'm in this epic-y space cathedral every time I listen to it. I haven't given Ad Noctum nearly enough attention. Need to rectify that. And Epitome sounds really cool so I'll look into it.

I found a lot of issues with "Moon in the scorpio" mainly the quiet production of the album to be a great obstacle. Largely, though the band is one of my favorite symphonic metal bands of any style, and hopefully I can order Phantasmagoria as soon as I get some money.

Yeah, the production is a bit thin, but the compositions more than make up for it.
Moon In The Scorpio is an exquisitely done work of Mephistopholean art.
10/10
In Abhorrence Dementia is right behind it.

I am intrigue by the new one, though.

I introduced myself to Limbonic Art through this album and I quite liked it. I think that the drums could be a little higher in the mix and this is really a loooooong listen.. Other than that, this is quite good.. 80-85/100
