Dopesick is so unpolished and raw its great music to rage to, I love everything on the album from the guitar feedback to that downtuned heavy sound and William's tortured vocals the album is one of favorite albums.
Dixie whiskey and Zero Nowhere make the album a classic.
Great review

Great choice, and great review! I added my score. This album isn't quite my favorite by them (Take as Needed for Pain still holds that spot), but like every other EHG album, it is still awesome and one that I revisit often.

Didn't enjoy Take As Needed for the Pain. Maybe I'll try that album again.

But you enjoy the rest of their stuff?

I think part of my placing it at the top of the EHG heap has to do with nostalgia, as it not only introduced me to the band, but an entire genre as well.

Thanks for the kind words.

The Dopesick tour was the first and only time I saw the band...opening for Pantera. Even playing in the daylight at a massive outdoor venue, they made everyone in the audience feel uncomfortable.

Seems there are various opinions as to which Eyehategod album is the best. I would probably go with 'Take as Needed...', but 'Dopesick' was my introduction.

I still can't believe the harsh reviews for 'Confederacey of Ruined Lives.' I thought they were as ugly and mean as they'd ever been.

you would figure they'd get a better reaction opening for Pantera. They both are Southern bands even though they don't necessarily have the same sound.

It's the only stuff I've heard and I can't get past the third song.
