I've heard of Riverside and received them as a recommendation on Amazon as well. I've just never given them a proper listen. As I type, I'm giving this cd a full listen via Lala. It's great to hear a slower darker prog band because I tire of hearing 50 minutes of full blown speedy technical wankering.

I hear lots of Rush influences and the vocals kind of have a Scotter Ward flavor which makes me happy as I am a fan of Cold.

Nice review. I appreciate it. It's great to discover more great music that I've been missing out on.

This is the only Riverside album I have right now and honestly I didn't like it enough to get any of their later work. I mean don't get me wrong, I like the album but it just didn't strike me as something amazing. Good to see this often overlooked band getting reviewed though. Can anyone tell me how this album compares to the later two?

I'll be reviewing the rest of Riverside's discography in the coming weeks. Wanted to start from the beginning.

Thanks for helping me discover this band Boris. Smooth proggy music with just the right amount darkness and edge. I dig!
