So fucking ferocious. These guys have unquestionably set the new standard for brutal death metal. For one thing, they've managed KEEP MY ATTENTION ON THEM AND THEM ONLY. Very hard to do one you're just a death metal band.

This makes up for the disappointment that was The Unspoken King, and is one of my picks for album of the year...

I didn't like the previous sweep picking lesson that was almost an album but this one is indeed awesome. I think the comparison here should be with Arsis and not Crptopsy. They've outclassed Arsis in every way possible on this one.

they don't really sound anything like Arsis. Arsis have hardly had any super fast blast beats in their music, much less primarily blasting for an entire song.

No they don't sound like Arsis, what I said was they are comparable technicality-wise. Arsis have tried to up the technicality with WAN in songs like Shattering the Spell, but Origin have outdone what they did that's what I'm saying.

Surely Origin is more like Necrophagist and such in the sound department but nobody really does it as crazy as they do.

This sounds fucking aweesome! I'm not into brutal death at all, but this chopped my head of!:D

Will check Decrepit Birth out. The ones with the paedo guitarist, right?

I've been overcome with grief for a year since Odious Mortem hasn't been reviewed either.

I could deal without indefinite blast beats but so far from the first two tracks I'm enjoying this a hell of a lot.

If I remember right I didn't care for the last Origin album ( Only listened to it once after reading a review ages ago ) but this one is definitely badass.

Godamn... never heard of these guys... but i must say that after hearing one track, this album is likely non-stop nuclear warfare.

Those arpeggios in The Aftermath are absolutely jaw-dropping. I need to check this out.

This review and album made me totally reassess my opinion on both Brutal and Technical Death Metal! Thanks Zadok! You're the best metal reviewer I've ever encountered. I'm now going back to other albums considered Technical classics, and giving them a fresh listen! I've already discovered None So Vile by Cryptopsy, an album I had totally dismissed as little as two years ago. Antithesis is perfect!

Seems like I'm alone with my opinion here... I like this album, but it's far from "perfection". The skill showcased here is impressive, but it doesn't capture my interest*. It's just relentless blasting from start to finish. I think they are the Dragonforce of brutal death. They're cool the first time, but it gets old quickly.

(*I am a brutal death fan)
