9/10 range for me, and I like all sorts of bands like Crionics, Leviathan, Dark Tranquillity, etc. but I guess I'm more open minded than most. No truer quote than this:

Many of you might be thinking now “Hey, so they have done exactly the same as In Flames with their latest piece of s…..album!” In certain ways, that´s true, but there is one major difference that is caused by many things. The difference in the big picture is that Soilwork simply succeeds in their musics “americanization” much better than In Flames.

Great points in that review my man, I agree and I love their change in direction personally.

As a newcomer to Soilwork, would you recommend that I get this album first and work backwards to (what everyone seems to be calling) the best, 'Chainheart Machine', or the other way around?Should I even bother with 'Stabbing...' once I have the aforementioned?

I think you should start with Figure Number Five, it's not as NU as the new one and it's pretty good ! :D

it's alright, but figure number five absolutely kills this album by comparison

It has 1 good song and the rest is crappy garbage (except Dirk's drumming, which is quite awesome despite being overshadowed by his work in Scarve). It's not melodic or heavy it's just boring chug-a-chug crap

And I even liked Figure Number 5 and Natural Born Chaos... (not to mention thinking their stuff before those was awesome)

a couple of the songs are pretty good, but that's not enough to justify paying $31 AUD for it. I'd rather buy 'Figure Number Five', that's my favourite album by Soilwork.

Stabbing the Drama sucks. Even the name sucks. The clean vocals don't fit in a way that really makes sense, and only serves to make it fit more in the American metalcore GRRAAAAA la la la GRAAAAA aesthetic.

This album pretty much blows. It's boring as shit. I'm not a huge soilwork fan to begin with but their older stuff is somewhat enjoyable. This album is just plain boring.

This album is horribly generic. "Distance" is decent at best, but nothing to write home about. There aren't really any good riffs or melodies to speak of, unlike their older catologue...

...Damn, I want to listen to A Preadator's Portrait again...
