Well, I got really excited about this album the first couple times I listened. Upon further listens I've realized that while there are certainly some kickass moments, there is lots of rather dull filler material. So, I pretty much agree with everything Zad said. I'll find myself listening to this more in the future, but probably skipping about half the tracks. Heck, I might just put Aftermath on repeat.

Also, we need a review for Reformation.

Zad, I think you were listening to this album expecting another Reformation, yet you blame the band for not moving forward. This is their fourth album so it's only natural that they ran out of new ideas and just made more of the same. I'm glad they didn't change their formula all that much tbh. Although I agree that Lustdriven is more power metal-ish it's still as diverse. This is not their best and like you I would have preferred more fast songs, but this is Kiuas and I know that whatever it is it will be excellent. If only they left out Summer's End and moved Lights Are Many (which is not a bad song for a ballad) toward the end of the album this could have been just as good as The New Dark Age.

Well, I was expecting that the songs would be as good as Reformation. Three out of four isn't bad, I suppose.

Of Love, Lust and Human Nature being the hottest stone this time around, this is a very enjoyable album, once again... In my opinion The Spirit of Ukko still remains their best effort, but each one of the albums offer a great deal of awesomeness to those who like their metal aggressive, diverse, melodic, even proggy sometimes... :dio:

edit: I just had to add the link.. :P I wasn't even dreaming that they'd make a video of my favorite song... And a very good one it is!

I kind of agree with your comment. After 2 listens I´m dissapointed as well but Kiuas is definately testing new things here and probably surveying to which experiment the audience will clap most.

Winters sting IS the song of the album! If you like the Aftermath then you should listen to The Forsaken which is full of maybe even better Aftermaths. " Traces from the past" would definitevly comply and the rest of their catalogue as well...

ha det gott jappar
