This review is about as off-base as a review can get

With Ozz, or with the review? I think I remember you saying that you didn't care for the album too much.

After sampling of various reviews on the net, it looks like this is a love/hate type of album. The haters generally don't like it for the same reasons the reviewer did: they didn't seem to live up to the promise of the first CD, the riffs are monotonous.

However, in no way shape or form is this a 50/100.

It was for me the biggest disappointment for years. This album is so boring, I still can't believe it.

These retro-thrash bands need to realize that the horse they've been riding has been dead for years.

Sorry to trudge up an old review like this, but I was away from the board when this got reviewed and well...

I think you're a fine reviewer Kyle, and I often agree with you, but here I really don't.

This is an excellent, excellent grower of an album. When I first heard it, it certainly caught me by surprise and for 2 or 3 spins I was disappointed. But eventually, I began to see the subtle colours of all the songs. There's so much goodness on this album, it can't all be digested in a couple of listens.

One thing I agree on....the instrumental is a total mess of an overblown piece of crap. But even discounting it completely, there's 48 minutes of *excellent* music here (52 if you count the bonus track "my parasite").

The pace is slow, but the song structures are intricate. Take a close listen, it's there, i'm not crazy. These guys spent a lot of time crafting these songs. I really prefer having this than a carbon copy of their debut.

Where most young thrash acts are rehashing the past ad nauseum (many to excellent effect, but still) these guys are exploring what their sound is capable of. I think they should recieve at least a bit of acknowledgment for that....deserves way more than a 50...way, way more.

Man, I really tried to get into this, especially since a lot of other reviewers were praising it as the best thing to happen to modern thrash, but I just couldn't stomach it. I don't mind slow songs - there was one slower track that I really liked - but it just never effected me much. I'm a picky person, especially when it comes to thrash, and while I love atmospheric music, it just doesn't feel right on a thrash album.

I would've loved for someone to review Infected Nations that would really enjoy it, but the only two reviewers that were interested in it were Thomas and I, and we both shared essentially the same opinion on it. You've had a lot more time to listen to it than I, though, so maybe your view of the album is a bit more justified. Perhaps it's time to give it another listen or two and try to find out what it's all about.

Thanks for the comment all the same, though.

Fair enough man. I respect your point of view. I just felt I had to post something, being that I so rarely disagree with a review so much. If nothing else, I want visitors to the site to know that some people think it's excellent, because I genuinely want these guys to do well for themselves.

On that note...they have already secured a new bassist since the unfortunate death of Mike. DW saw them as one of the opening acts for Overkill and he said the new bassist was pretty good. I wonder if from this tragedy they will forge a dark masterpiece a la "...and justice"?

Just because he gave your ass a hard time, literally and figuratively.
