I have no idea what is happening to the title of this album... the site can't handle the romanian characters, I guess. I shall go fix it now.

Yeah, tried editing it myself but no joy.

I'll have to give this a go - not terribly pleased to hear that this is more ranged in than the wild and beautiful Om, but they are a brilliant band. Looking forwards to hearing the amusingly-named Dordeduh's effort.

Yes, I would have liked the new one to not be too 'reined in', but Charles's review calmed my fears. I think that, no matter what, after Om this album would be somewhat of a let down; Om is on my all-time top-5 list after all, and it is the only one from this decade.

I am hopeful that Dordeduh will give us two great bands instead of one.

Can't wait to hear it :dio:

Hard to top om, really. It would be unfair to expect it from them.

Definitely.

The more I listen to this, the less like Om it seems- much more straight folky black metal. But, it really works and they do a great job of playing that type of music in a distinctive way.

I'm expecting Dordeduh to be a lot more experimental, but also excellent.

Interesting, I thought Negru would have been the most experimental of the original band based on his interview on the OM bonus disc.

Looks like I was wrong.

Wow I wasn't actually expecting this to be any good considering everyone left the band except for the drummer. Now I can't wait to check this out.

Well, Dordeduh has a lot to live up to.

I was surprised by how little metal there was--nearly half the album is ambient or folk. That said, the ambient/folk is excellent, I just would have liked a bit more metal. I thought track four, Ochiul Inimii, is where everything came together, a touch of Opeth and Enslaved in the guitarwork, prog drumming and blastbeats, along with the folk instrumentation. It's almost unfair to the rest of metal how talented Negru is, and how wisely he choose to fill out the reminder of the new band. No one does what Negura does in metal; no one mixes the non-metal styles more fluidly.

While this can't grade out as perfectly (or be quite as influential) as Om, that is hardly a slight. I eagerly wait the new lineup to congeal for the next album, in the mean time, this is the early leader for my album of the year.

I've been furiously banging the drum for this band since 02 when I bought 'N Crugu Bradului on a whim from The End Records because it came with a twig from the Transylvania forests, and I don't think I am ever going to ever stop :dio: :dio:
