Had this a long time ago.
The only track that ever really stood out for me was Flagellation, though overall it's not a bad album.

One of the overlooked and forgotten, Samael.

A band that I have never gave enough attention to. I should listen to this one.

It depends... the albums before are doomier and less awesome, the albums after are more industrial and less awesome. Try before you buy; I'd say that COO is Samael's one vital album.

Industrial = huge meh so not for me I guess.. The melodic black metal tag caught me. Doomier could be nice.

It's not on this one, but the re-recording of "Into The Pentagram" FUCKING RULES!

Anyway, this album is awesome. It signaled one of my earliest ventures into death metal.

Then, you know, they got all artsy.

That re-recording's on the Rebellion EP, which as I mentioned is great too. Certainly worth getting the double-disc pack.

I don't really hate any Samael era, but the Industrial stuff took a long time to grow on me and the pre-COO stuff can seem very dull in comparison.

The latter day stuff is good, but it's very mood-demanding stuff. I can't just pop it in and dig it. Some days that shit comes on and I fucking hate it, you know.

Not a big fan of the latest Samael either. A little uninspired, I think.

This album is great. It took me a long time to finally check this band out. Glad I did.

In that case I think you should really check out Blood Ritual. More doominess and a restrained aggression level so thick and intense that you can practically see it. My personal Samael favourite. I find Worship Him very good as well (I realise that this is not the general consensus here on MR), but Blood Ritual is the more solid of the pre-CoO albums.
