I enjoy this. I didn't care much for Hammers mostly but his style transitions well to this.

I'd take Hammers over this, actually... a bit more tuneful and exciting. This is a really good album, but as the score suggests, I don't think it's really right up there as one of the best progressive BM albums of the moment.

Surprised there aren't more coments on this...

Some of the names mentioned here definitely got me excited. I didn't even know this band existed. I'll check this one out.

Agreed with the review and score. This is just a great album, really engaging stuff.

Agalloch. Shit. Tell me about the vocals, is there any weak clean singing on it?

There is some clean singing yes, I can see you possibly not liking it. Personally it doesn't bother me, its very much mixed in the background and its not used overly much. Definitely worth checking out though, they cut their own path as far as black metal goes, very refreshing listen.

It is a very refreshing listen. I like this band. But would I call the album great? Heck no. A solid 80/100 seems reasonable here.

The clean vocals are kinda hoarse, haunting, harmonized sort of deals. They work a lot better than other cleans in BM I've heard.

I agree with emperorblackdoom. Ludicra tickles my ears and have a unique thing going on, but they only occasionally make me super duper excited and happy.
