I loved Armada and hated Kolossus, but after this review I'm willing to give them another chance and listen to this one. I'll just skip dragontower.

Good review there, Thomas. You feel pretty much like I do about the album. Dark As Moonless Night is becoming one of my favorite songs this year, if only for the awesome vibe of the chorus. I also dig the Floyd-ish guitar break in Reptilian Majesty! :dio:

I just don't agree with The Dragontower, though... I don't know how everyone can hate that song. Sure, it's different and it's more "accessible" and whatnot but I think it still has a rocking vibe. I really like the lyrics too.. though I know a lot of metalheads don't pay attention to that anywhere as much as I do.

"Dragontower" sounds like a song written by some high-school Metal band getting ready for the battle-of-the-bands after one of the members says "Hey, man, I found this really coooool thing on the internet last week, it's called the harmonic minor scale, it's like, all Egyptian and shit."

However, I heard "Dragon Iconography" I believe, and was more impressed with that than anything I've ever heard from the band before... I might check it out.

That's hilarious, though. I guess it's not so much the music as it's the lyrics I like on it myself. But like I said, it's a quirk of mine to pay more attention to lyrics than music...

Probably why I never "got" bands like Cannibal Corpse and stuff. Can they play? Yes, absolutely. Do I give a damn? Absolutely not. The lyrics to bands like that are a total turn off for me. Same goes with grindcore, although some bands like Afgrund are pretty awesome.

Guess it's why I sometimes prefer black metal, since the ideology and lyrics stick to me more...

It's a brilliant album, and yeah, Esiel, if it's that solo on Reptilian Majesty you're referring to, it's fantastic. Love it. For those of you who don't know, Obsidian is one hell of a lead guitarist.

Anyway, about Dragontower, it sticks out in a very negative way for me. This album flows very naturally, only interrupted by that song, which sucks. Only my opinion though.

Same boat as Kathy in terms of Armada and Colossus and I'm looking forward to this.
