I would have to agree with this review. I've been listening to Unearth for a really long time now and this release actually slipped under my radar until maybe 6 months ago. I gave it a download and it's extremely mediocre. Disappointing, honestly. I'd really like these guys to kinda mix it up a bit more instead of playing by the numbers.

I have to disagree on your assessment of the singing. He's got one of the strongest voices in metalcore.

Although otherwise, the review's pretty accurate. This is nowhere near as good as In The Eyes of Fire or The Oncoming Storm, although it's still a shitload better than a lot of other metal currently being released.

He just uses the same sounding shouting voice like 99% of the time, I wouldn't say his vocals are that good at all.

A lack of diversity doesn't make it a bad voice. It's strong as fuck, have you heard the live album?

I haven't, but I've seen them live 3 times. I'm not really hating on it, it's just not all that diverse and I can see how people wouldn't be impressed.

Unearth is pretty much Unearth, melodic death interludes and BHC breakdowns nothing more and nothing less. As always everyone goes on to listen to more and more diverse music, but it doesn't hurt to spin The Oncoming storm and In the eyes of fire to get pissed off.

Ugh, very mediocre stuff. I used to dig these guys back when I was big into As I Lay Dying, but the single off this new album is just boring. I'm not sure if I have just grown tired of this genre as a whole, or if the music has gotten progressively more stale over the years.
