Typical anti-deathcore ranting, if you look at the lineup it should be a no-brainer as to what to expect. Animals as Leaders in my opinion was one of the worst bands on the set, even with the obvious gifted musicianship they simply play boring music. Vital Remains however, stole the show along with The Red Chord, as Decrepit Birth ditched the folks in Houston. There are a great deal of other shows coming up man, and I'm glad to see you all are doing live reports again.

Typical anti-deathcore ranting? I really don't see how you could have actually read the piece and then call it that. I mean I spent the first two paragraphs being anti-"anti-deathcore ranting," for God's sake. As for AAL, we'll have to agree to disagree - I like it, you don't. They seem to be a love/hate proposition.

I'm planning on reviewing the American Carnage tour in Louisville, Nevermore in Louisville, Nile w/ Ex Deo, Psycroptic, Keep Of Kalessin & Pathology in Louisville, Overkill in Columbus, and Shadows Fall at the Madhatter in Covington next week (I liked their last record and it's close and cheap). I find concert reviews interesting and useful as a fan, and I go to a ton, so I'll keep pumping them out for you guys.

I'm in Dayton. I get sick to death of driving to Louisville but it's the closest place for a lot of the good tours. Headliner's is cool, though. Actually, I saw In Flames and a few other bands at Expo Five last year and that wasn't bad either. I haven't made it to Uncle Pleasant's or Phoenix Hill yet.

I ditched out on going this. Couldn't find it in the budget for short sets of bands I'm not in love with. I need to man up and drive to Headliner's.

As for the Kant jab, Kant has a positive philosophy on top of his stellar critique mind you.

Be forewarned that Promise to Agony is opening up for them and they are atrocious. They are a deathcore band with a Sum 41 cover in their set. WTF is up with that trend? It just goes to show that the douches in high school hopped from trend to trend.

This was an extremely good read. Well written and even though the best bands on the tour I am only HALF interested in, you made me at least care enough to know what you thought of them.

Great live review. A live review is one of the few times when it is always a personal story, not a scoring system.

Nothing is as bad as a Paramore cover or The Offspring cover by deathcore bands...oh my lord.

Seriously, that song by Sum 41 has to be worst. No joke. That is the lowest of low in terms of pop punk. Paramore isn't intolerable and I at least liked Offspring growing up.

I attended this last night, was able to catch everything from Veil of Maya (who still need a lot of work on their musicianship) onwards.

The Red Chord was a definite step up from Veil of Maya, but a bit too coreish for my tastes. Entertaining nonetheless.

All Shall Perish I found irritating. The lead singer's scream is particularly piercing, and the band felt the need to insult the crowd, either for not headbanging enough, or for some of the chicks being ugly. Hey. if I actually liked their music, I wouldn't have been standing around. I left after about 3 songs and grabbed a smokie outside like he suggested.

I highly enjoyed The Faceless, my favorite set of the night. They simply strike me as nicer, mellower guys than their bill mates, and guess what? They play better and sound better too, even without their bassist who was hit by a car the day before. Strikes me as a fair trade-off, and the rest of the crowd seemed to agree as they generated the loudest applause of the evening thus far.

Decapitated did not sound good at all, the sound was way too distorted, although their slow groove moments still worked despite the sound. I am at least intrigued enough to check out their recordings. Still about an 80% crowd by that point.

Well, it's a whole new band for the most part and it's really interesting in as much as Decapitated really took death metal by storm a few years ago. I saw an interview with Vogg where he said he wished they would have played earlier in the line-up on this tour. I have high hopes for a new record, though, since Vogg is the prime mover anyways.
