I remember back about five years ago, we had booked them up to play a show with Suicide Silence and Job for a cowboy in Lake Havasu. Sorceron came out with his hair slicked back in devil locks and tight pants, and the band looked like any other metalcore act cirque 2000. Of course even then they sucked playing "Like Carrion birds", fucking up during the sweep section and their faux-black metalness even got the scene kids nauseated. It's funny to see these losers trying to pose at black metal, especially since it's disingenious Dimmu worship with the occasional Emperor riff. Fuck this band.

I understood what you are attempting to convey in this review, they are band you rediscovered and you enjoy them which is fine. But to say that they resemble the "old school", is an analoy that is not even close to reality in any sense. Perhaps Emperor, and even then a tepid and horrible mockery of Emperor, Phoenix has the tendency to produce shitty bands like Job for a Cowboy and Abigial Williams, both sought to reinvent themselves, and ended up making themselves look silly.

I don't see how each band didn't get better personally as time went on, if anything I'd say that Arizona has a pretty damn good metal scene. If you hear a trepid and horrible mockery of Emperor, then I can't say that you are wrong and you didn't. I personally find the record to be better than anything the members of Emperor have done since Anthems.

I find this amusing mainly due to what Steve's tastes used to be like when he started posting .

The 'worst' of all that I listen too, is still infinitely better than the new output than a weak band like Abigail Williams.

Did you listen to the album? I am just generally interested. I personally thought that their last album was lame as Hell and was incredibly against any notion that their new album would be anything less than trash, but I was surprised. Either way, I'm glad that I enjoyed it.

Yes I hear the death metal scene is pretty solid over around those parts.

I'm gonna check these guys out because I've seen very low scores on some sites and now this.

Why did I always think this band was a deathcore band?

Well...

Because they kinda are. They're Symphonic Black Metal for the Deathcore kids.

Listening to a track now. This is a lot better than the last album, the production doesn't make it sound so gay either.

For some reason, I could never get into these guys and I still can't. Might be that USBM blows.

Not particularly.

But I recant my statement!

Judas Iscariot has some fairly decent stuff... I meant to say:

"Nearly all USBM blows, in my opinion"

Saying Abigayl Williams is USBM, is a huge insult to USBM.
