Rated this one a 95/100.. This one is among my top 5 this year for sure.
It's not better than none so vile though which i would rate a 98/100.

Good review. I'm ashamed of my Cryptopsy-free music collection.

I had a chance to listen to this last night....pretty brutal at times. The drumming on Angelskingarden is insane!

my favourite Cryptopsy album is NsV... then again i don't really ike the others and i don't think NsV is all that awesome.

i haven't given much attention to the other albums, i mean, i have, but they don't grab me by the balls and force me to listen.

i didn't like the way the music was always stop-start and didn't "flow", it sounded like crazy times and shit just for the sake of it.

think i'll like this album?

oh and my favourite 'topsy song is "cold hate, warm blood". it, er, flows, know what i mean? if they always flowed that well i'd masturbate to their music.

yeah, I see what you guys see in that band... guess I'm too old for this shit

funny stuff though, for not too often

60/100 (for the effort and my understanding of your liking)

and, Azrael, I think Cryptopsy is way too chaotic for your taste...

Flo Mounier has to be the best drummer I've ever heard. I once watched a concert video of his, duing a drum solo, but I couldn't see his hands :D . He kicks ass.

By the way, if you thought that the vocals weren't that great than the score should be much, much lower. This album could still be good if scored in the 80's. Some of the things you mention contradict what the score should really be. No matter how good the guitars are, they still shouldn't be the one thing that makes this album what is. Remember, 90-100 is considered a Masterpiece. With that being said, everything about it should be firing on all cylinders; from the performances, songwriting and production to even how the disc is packaged. Godd review none the less 8)

I, personally, am not a fan of extreme and brutal death metal but i can easily understand why this album is going to get hails. I actually really dig this CD in small doses. Hmmm.. lets see if i can get Lord Worm on my radio show, that would be interesting.

I only didn't personally like the vocals, they actually fit with the music very well. Should have mentioned that.

I agree with everything except the underlined... I suppose it was figure of speech...

Anyway, killer album and killer review.

Hmm.

Hard to say, really. Download it to give it a try. I'd say it's one of their more cohesive albums as opposed to And Then You'll Beg and None So Vile.

I'm not about to bitch about this album getting in the 90s just because he didn't like the vocals considering some other things that have creeped into that range before it...

Anyway, another great review. This has inspired me to actually listen to the album, whee.

This album not only renewed my faith in Death Metal but will be in constant rotation in my player for many many months to come. Being a HUGE fan of percussion in general and rythm as a whole the drums and bass on this album had me in ecstasy! A great album, good review and I can't WAIT to see them do this shit live! Any tour info. on when and where they'll be playing in the next 6 months or so?

They sound FUCKING AMAZING LIVE, the vocals are 10x better for one, not to mention that lord worm eats worms on stage (obviously) and feeds them to the crowd.

I saw them a few weeks ago with suffocation, aborted, cattle decap, and some shitty despised icon band who were really horrible.
