This one took me completely by surprise. I didn't knew a new album was coming. Excellent news. I'm gonna hear it tonight, and then I'll post my first impressions.

I really, really wanted to hear this until I listened to Souvenirs for the first time in a long while and I just didn't like it as much as I remembered, leaving me hesitant to check this out.

The first three songs from Souvenirs are really awesome, the second half is pretty boring, especially Sur l'autre rive je t'attendrai and Tir Nan Og. The EP Le Secret is much better. And fuck, the new album hasn't leaked yet, I'm really curious about this new dark mysterious path that Zad mention in the review.

I've been on a huge Alcest/Les Discretes/Fen/Amesoeurs wave lately. Looking forward to hearing this!

I wasn't even aware they were making a new one. I will listen to this even though souvenirs didn't do much for me.

Well, I just finished listening, and my first impression is that's way better than Souvenirs. Really. It sounds more like the EP, and for me, that's great! :dio: Combining the melancholy and agression of Le Secret with the ethereal melodies and more coherent and cohesive songwriting of Souvenirs, and Neige superb anguish vocal delivery, Alcest has made their best release so far.

Neat. Did you get the more mysterious and esoteric nature that I felt? Like I said in the review, everyone will feel different things, but it certainly felt like a step into fantasy from the cover art alone.

Le Secret is amazing. Can't really comment on this one yet but I think Le Secret is very hard to beat for Alcest.

Are there any other bands that play this style of metal? It's uber sick.

Check out Les Discrets, Fen and to a certain extent Amesoeurs.

Alright, I'm horribly confused. After youtubing for some Alcest videos the other day, I've found out that whatever my copy of Escailles De Lunes is, is not one that matches up with the video.

All the songs are different but Percelles De Lune, which match up on each copy. One is labeled from 2009, one from 2010... Did they like redo the album or something?

The 2009 one still sounds like Alcest but I can't find anything about another album other than the ones mentioned... So I don't get it.

And if it's not them... If I mediafire up the MP3 will someone give it a listen and tell me who it is if it's not Alcest? Because they rock.

Alcest did a split with Les Discrets last year that showcased some of the songs from each of their new albums, so that may explain the differences.

That makes sense. Maybe I have a mislabeled split album. Gonna look into it, thanks a lot.

If not I'm gonna post an MP3 and someone has to help me because the music rules and I'd love to know who it is if it's not Alcest.

Unfortunately it's not the split.

That's a direct download link to an MP3 off the supposed Escalles CD, which I now know it not to actually be. Can anyone give it a listen and help me out? I'd really love to know who it is.

Take it back to the store you bought it at, case closed.
