Raze the stray is one of my favorite songs as well, but Cold Ascending and the entire album is a monolith of noise and intensity. Neurosis is truly one of the most extreme bands with metal, and they do it all with massive layers of sound. This album is far more interesting than Through silver in blood, but both albums are necessary to hear by any metalhead.

This album is so primal and visceral.

This band just can't fuck up tbh. Great album, amazing band. Nice review btw, I'm interested to hear your opinion on their later albums as well.

Some of the band members would go on to form "eyes of fire"

I felt kind of bad for them at the Danzig show and bought a CD from the band members, who were running their own merch stand. they were much better than Kataclysm that's for certain.

You might want to see if this band is worth checking out. I liked the album for what it was and even though I haven't heard it in years, I can still remember some of the solemn and haunting melodies.

Yeah they're basically the best.

I will eventually listen to them, but I am fine appreciating this bottle of fine wine for a while.
