So the album doesn't release to the masses until May 22nd, but there is a video to the "Voodoo Mon Amour" available on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2mZVOd0jWY). There's definitely a "differentness" to it that seems to gnaw at you as you listen. Everything you've ever been told about music says that metal guitars and drums should not play nice with jazz. But they do. They do so well. Listen to the song twice. I dare you not to become infected by the chorus. Great review Alex. Now I'm waiting anxiously for the 22nd.

I might've liked it with a more normal electro swing or metal singer. The soprano takes things too far. Even then not sure if I can get into the idea of dancey metal.

I have a hard time with these guys. It's like they're trying too hard to be wacky, as opposed to the likes of Mr Bungle which just, disturbingly, are. Good musicians, though.

In that respect, they're like Unexpect but not as good.

Yes, actually, should have thought of Unexpect, although have the same problem with them...

I think they're last album toned down the eccentrics and was solid. I don't remember, though...

Yes. They have cooled things down. Sounds much more consistent and mature with their last one.

I read that as Deathspell Omega and totally had a WTF. And I don't know DSO seems more gimmicky than Unexpect.
