I think that Between the Buried and Me need to focus on writing some good four and five minute songs before they try tackling any bigger ones.
I can kinda see what you mean. I love it when bands are ambitious, but it seems since Colors, BTBAM have been obsessing with making their songs as long as they possibly can. It was one of the shortest songs on The Great Misdirect which I think is one of their most memorable, Desert Of Song (which might be because it's pretty much a straight up pop song, and a really damn good one at that). I kinda hope they stop trying to one-up themselves with song lengths and just write some good songs. That would be the bold and ambitious move for them now, because everyone expects huge, long, sprawling songs from them.
Also, as a side note, the last parts of White Walls are some of my favorite moments in music period.
