How DARE you dis the two Epica videos! :|
I really like 'em both, the medieval Phantom Agony, and Feint with its great church setting (though I didn't care for the b&w Nosferatu parts)... Simone is such a thing to behold to <3 :D

BTW The new Epica video Solitary Ground looks STUNNING!!! Can't wait to get the full version!! \m/
(although for some reason Simone's vocals didn't seem to appeal to me on this one?! :( )

It's true that this isn't a live concert, but I think it's still a hell of a lot cooler to watch the band + orchestra + choir performing the songs than look at some cut-and-paste video of live concerts. Of course it would have been even cooler to have a live concert registration, but the sound on this DVD is incredibly natural, thanks to all authentic instruments.
All of that is a matter of personal taste, of course, but I am really surprised that you didn't even mention the astonishing sound of Simone's voice. That she is a great - and beautiful - singer is something we all know, but is should be said that on this DVD in surround sound quality, her voice and the choir sound much warmer; I love the album, but having the choice between the studio recording and the DVD, I choose the latter because in surround sound the music really sounds a lot better.

I like this release, seeing the band perform with the string sections and choir was cool.

The videos are awful though - high on concept, unfortunately low-budget execution.

I wonder if you have seen the same versions of the videos that I have? I have them just on my computer coz I don't have the dvd yet... But I see absolutely NO reason to say such bad things about these videos, if anything they are good. And I see no difference between these videos and for example Rhapsody videos. Of course now u say "well the Rhapsody videos suck!", well should every video be filled with some billion dollar digital effects like the latest HammerFall video Blood Bound with its Day After Tomorrow effects?!?!?!!?!?!!???!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?

The band is there, they look good, the clothes look good, the setting and scenery look appealing, the shooting is professional... I really can't see the problem here??!??!?!
It's NOT like it's the budget video with the band-playing-live-on-stage OR the dredded band-playing-in-the-abandoned-warehouse (compare to latest Bodom video "Trashed, Lost & Strungout")!

No, it's the budget video with Simone-dancing-along-the-bottom-of-screen-imposed-as-convinclingly-as-the-people-who-do-sign-language-for-deaf-people-on-daytime-TV thing that made me laugh.

And I'll do it again. Ha ha ha!

Yeah that's her.

Thankfully they seem to be past that a bit, becuase there's no picture of her on the new album cover.
