I think it's much more average than your review actually shows... indeed there are a few good songs (among the many fillers) but, also, it has some NU riffing I profundly disliked...

and there's no way Zakk is the hardest working man in metal... Dan Swano, Devin Townsend, Steve DiGiorgio (to name a few) are hardest workers imo

and now it's time to give you my rate : 55/100

Hmm, I partially agree. When it comes to different projects, guys like Swanö and Townsend definitely trump Wylde up. But my mindpattern on the proclamation was set in the consideration of one main band. With BLS chugging along at practically an album/year-rate, plus constant touring on Ozzfest, offseas and the occasional stints with Ozzys band, not to mention all the publicity work that Zakk is constantly appearing in with guitar mags (especially his recurring columns in some), rock publications and such.

So you do have a point, but I would then just add that the hardest working man when it comes to one main project that keeps growing and growing and riffing and riffing

NU riffs? Well, I of course dont have such a great grasp of distinguishing such, as I like some Korn, Disturbed and Slipknot on my menu for example, but I cant really detect anything similar on Mafia. But as I said, I dont really pay attention to such things, as long as a riff is good it can be whatever

Strange, I only feel that "Electric Hellfire" and "Octavia" can be considered filler. I think this is a killer album!

The problem most people have with BLS is the same problem most people have with Pro-Pain and that is the simple fact that there isn't much evolution from album to album. When a band releases albums almost annually you can't really expect much evolution in songwriting.

But, like Pro-Pain, when you compare Foul Taste Of Freedom with 2005's Prophets Of Doom there is no way you can say the band hasn't evolved! Compare Sonic Brew with Mafia and try and convince me that Zakk hasn't changed it up!

Personally I'll take quanitity over innovation any day of the week!! Especially if the product I keep getting is high-quality, kick ass shit! Maybe it would be nice to hear Zakk take BLS to an unexpected level of musicality, but what if that takes him 4 years to achieve that between albums? Would that be worth it? Or would you rather a kick ass album year after year? I'll take the latter.

As for the comment about "Nu Riffs," that is just ridiculous!! What is a "Nu Riff?" That is simply a ridiculous comment! And for the record, there are some amazing nu-metal bands out there so the "nu" comments we read on messageboards really mean nothing!

Dude, you're nuts. Yes, there are many, many amazing nu-metal bands! A song or two? Come on! How ignorant can you be?

my fav' is his previous, Blessed Hellride. and it has Ozzy on one (good) song which increased my pleasure... actually, I think the best Zakk Wylde had given us was his Pride & Glory album (sorrily the band didn't last :( )

and yeah, there are always a few fillers on each of his albums which is the logical consequence when you realease each year a 15 songs (or so) album

actually, i think Blessed Hellride benefited of his shorten song list (only 10)... maybe that was a good year for Zakk and thus he could detect the fillers

 damn, he lost it this time !

and, btw, that doesn't change anything to my previous comment :P

(I love you 8) )

I'd give it a 70/100. Solid and indeed very fun to listen to, but there's nothing really special about it. Aleksie really nailed "Dr. Octavia," though. It's just a mediocre solo stuck by itself in the middle of the album for no discernable reason.
