May be this will be my February purchase. I loved the band's debut. And, from what I've heard, this sounds like it will be even better.

Interesting that the album has a song called On Eagle's Wings, because there's a famous church hymn by that same title (in fact, my church sings it sometimes). It'll be interesting to see if the MOS song has any relation to it.

One of my fav power metal albums of 2008, but I don't think is THAT good, a 90 for me. Very good review and a welcomed addition to MR. Keep up the good work. :dio:

Couldn't agree more with you Kyle. Anybody who dismisses this band becasue they are Christian is plain stupid and close minded. I am Christian, but I would never dismiss a band for their lyrical content or beliefs (I wouldn't listen to metal if I did). Art is art, and this one is up their with the best of '08 and Absolution Day is up there for my all time favorite songs.

I also want to add, I am so pleased with this weeks reviews. That is all.

These guys are indeed awesome. I think this is rated a bit too highly, but it's definitely a fantastic album.

Great band and album. Mirror of Souls is pretty much the sequel to the debut, albeit heavier and with better production, which is all I was looking for anyways. Although some of the "charm" found on the s/t is missing on this one (could have to do with the heavier sound I think).

I find religion to be interesting from a historic perspective, so the lyrics don't bother me at all.

I've been listening to this album a lot lately and it just blows me away every time. The title track is up there with anything Dream Theater has released. Great stuff.

Yeah this is a good one. I was literally just listening to this yesterday and thought the same thing. Great album.

Apparently they're working on new material for the remainder of this year. :dio:

Missed out on this one when it was released. It is fantastic. Title song may be the best 20 min+ song written in the last decade with the obvious exception of the great escape.

The more I listen to this one, the less I like it. For some reason I've started to hate his voice as well. I used to think think this was a great album, at least 90/100, now I think it's standard PM.

This is nothing but a masterpiece! I listened to this a lot october 2008 when it was new lying in the hospital prepered for a transplan.

The titeltrack is one of the best songs I have ever heard, can't wait to hear the new one!

I wouldnt call this "standard" Power Metal, but I do agree that its initial OMG impact starts to wear off with time. My first impression great, but now that I have given it time I am more inclined to think this is a very good Christian representative in Power Metal, but there is better to be found in the genre (I have not listened to their new one yet, so it could change my mind about them).

I'm actually currently listening to As the World Bleeds, which arrived today. So far it's bad-ass. "I Am," the opener, might be the best track Matt has ever written. It's awesome!

Anyway, "standard power metal" is pretty accurate, if you ask me. Of course, if that's meant as an insult, implying they're nothing special in the power metal genre...well, that's entirely incorrect.

Thats an interesting point actually. "Standard Power Metal" can pretty much encompase everything out there for the most part, given that the genre as a whole has been re-hashed repeatedly.
