I remember listening to Anata, when I was only getting into metal, I just thought "hollly shit this stuff is insane". Anata are an excellent band and it is a tremendous insult lumping them in with the shitty tech death crowd.

Great review for a great album. I admit I don't really enjoy older Anata anywhere as much but The Conductor's Departure is an incredible slab of tech death. :dio:

The leads and general atmosphere on TCD are out of this world.

This is pretty awesome. Its odd that more tech death bands don't incorporate lots of melody like these guys do.

Gah!!! I wanna get this. I just ordered three black metal CDs that weren't cheap so I'm gonna have to wait, but thanks for this reminder Zad. I really liked Under A Stone With No Inscription, and most people seem to agree that this one is better.

I've listened to this a few times now, and it is truly excellent...how they manage to achieve such a mix of technicality, catchiness and brutality is beyond me. I'll definitely be looking to buy this one soon, really sink my teeth into it. Can't wait for their new one!

Wat. Modern Tech Death by and large IS extremely melodic. That's one among a number of reasons DM purists despise most of it.

This is excellent music. I discovered these guys quite a few months ago but wasn't in the mood for technical and melodic so it didn't catch my attention. However, the case is different this time. Very well thought out music. Between the bands Lost Soul and Yattering, there's no doubt I pick this band over those two. Brilliant music, indeed!
