I think a score of 72 is very low for this great album, that is on par, if not better than 'Vale'.

I would have it somewhere between 88-90. So what is so bad about this album that warrants a score of 72?

72 is a bad score? Jesus. Give people an inch and they take a mile.

8/10 or 9/10 is far better than 7/10

But it's nowhere near an 8 or 9/10. Not on par with Vale at all in my opinion. Hence the score. It's overdone and their style doesn't fit their new approach to song-writing. Not yet at least.

I completely disagree. Their song-writing has gotten better since 'Vale'. However it was already supreme at the time of 'Vale'

I'm forced to agree, they are as good as on their previous album (even a little better for my taste), they just changed their song writing and the overall sound is nearer to Blind Guardian now. Well you all know how I feel about the album as I did put my score.

While 7 / 10 isn't a bad score any day of the week, I understand why some people find a low score for such an album though. It's also album of the month at Rock Hard and that alone says tons.

For Power Metal lovers this is one of the rare really great albums on offer this year.

Just my 2 cents
Chris

I think this is a matter of taste, as for me it is (worth 8 or 9, but so are the previous two albums BTW). But I can totally see it not being the case for everyone Thomas. I also find the killing songs selection quite short, there are almost only killing songs in this album :) (again it's only my opinion based on my Power Metal fondness)

Yup, as I made clear in the beginning I really really dig this band, but I don't think what they tried to do with this album really worked. It didn't fit. I never said it's a crappy album though. It rocks, but not close to Vale or Easton Hope as previously mentioned.

Of course it's a matter of taste. It's hard to be completely objective in reviews.

Completely agree with you on that point, it's hard indeed :) (as I'm probably known as the less objective reviewer)
